The Foundation for Alternative and Integrative Medicine (FAIM) describes its initiative as follows...
"Our mission is to create a revolution in worldwide health care.
We accomplish this through a system of investigation, research and implementation. We are an exciting foundation, founded by Former Congressman Berkley Bedell. Mr. Bedell has been instrumental in the alternative field of medicine, having played a key role in the creation of the Office of Alternative Medicine at NIH and served on their board for several years. Ultimately Mr. Bedell created the Foundation for Alternative and Integrative Medicine in 1998 after realizing that NIH had no intention of legitimately investigating alternative therapies.
Investigation
FAIM searches the world for effective, nontoxic, and low-cost alternative medical therapies. Areas of interest include autologous adult stem cells, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, nutrition, treatment centers, homeopathy, herbal therapies, energy medicine, orthomolecular medicine, chronic and degenerative diseases, traditional medicine, alternative and complementary medicine, subtle energy medicine and functional medicine.
Research
To accomplish our research goals FAIM makes site visits to facilities worldwide and attends conferences. FAIM conducts retrospective studies and partnerships with medical facilities, foundations, hospitals, and universities for the development of clinical trials to demonstrate the effectiveness of a therapy.
Implementation
Upon determination of efficacy and safety, FAIM shares the therapies with hospitals and clinics around the world for integration into the health care system. FAIM disseminates information on new frontiers in science and medicine and encourages adoption of cost effective therapies through global networking, conferences, publishing books and dissemination of information via the web site and internet. The FAIM web site, www.faim.org, includes information of findings on these global searches as well as critical information for the public like Dr. Sinatra’s heart health information."
