2010 Las Vegas A4M Conference
A Meeting of Integrative Minds Looking to Change the World of Medicine

December 9-11, 2010 marked the 18th Annual Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine and Biomedical Technologies, commonly known as the Vegas “A4M” conference. Every year world-renowned speakers present cutting edge information focused on the prevention and early intervention of aging-related disease processes. Health practitioners market their products and services in an exhibition hall, and doctors can become certified in anti-aging medicine and/or receive continuing medical education (CME) credits.

Dr. Sinatra particularly enjoys his annual trek to the Las Vegas A4M show because it’s an opportunity to network with like-minded MDs, naturopaths, and other holistic health practitioners, and he has acquired many colleagues and personal friends through past A4M shows. For many health practitioners, the A4M is the gateway conference that broadens their view on modern medicine. Many physicians (in Dr. Sinatra’s experience at least) come to the A4M show seeking to fill the gaps in their conventional training. Frustrated from continual patient relapse and suffering, these doctors want to go to another level to treat their patients and teach them to act more preventatively.

This year’s headliner, Suzanne Somers, touched on the roles doctors play in changing the face of modern medicine. Through her talk centered on bio-identical hormones, Somers acknowledged numerous reasons why people are sick and problems inherent within our current medical system, and touched on preventative mentality and lifestyle modifications that can help change these trends. As a celebrity and author of four books on anti-aging, Somers is a highly influential spokesperson on alternative health practices. Through her work she has significantly expanded public awareness of integrative medicine, and helped bridge the gap between physicians and the public. Her inspiring message to the medical audience at A4M was to be the change they wish to see, saying “live your message.”

Dr. Sinatra followed Somers’ encouraging message with an abstract presentation on electromedicine, or vibrational medicine (Integrative Biophysics) – what he calls "the new frontier in medicine." Highlighting the role of electro-magnetic frequencies (EMFs) in cellular metabolism, Dr. Sinatra discussed how man-made EMFs, such as emissions from high voltage power lines, cordless phones and wireless technologies are forms of electro-pollution: these EMFs disrupt cellular function and can lead to adverse health effects. He then offered an electro-solution: Earthing, or grounding, the process of connecting with the earth’s natural EMF. Earthing, Dr. Sinatra explained, helps the body absorb negative free electrons to neutralize free radical activity and create positive physiologic changes; it is nature’s other anti-oxidant.

Many other renowned integrative physicians, such as Jonathan V. Wright, M.D., Stephen Holt, M.D., Ph.D., Ron Rothenberg M.D., and Mark Rosenberg M.D., gave lectures; some of the topics included hormone balance and restoration, weight management and nutritional therapies, dietary supplementation, and non-toxic cancer therapies. Other practitioners, such as cancer maverick Stanislaw Burzynski, M.D., provided exposure to cutting edge alternative practices as exhibitors.

Recognizing that traditional medical school training does not adequately prepare today’s physicians for many contemporary health challenges, Dr. Sinatra recommends that physicians and other health practitioners get involved with A4M, and attend conferences. While the December Las Vegas show is one of the most expansive shows, other smaller conferences are held across the U.S. throughout each year. At a time when doctors must self-educate to learn about nutrition, stem cells and other non-pharmaceutical, non-surgical treatments, A4M may be the perfect forum for them to get their feet wet with alternatives they can learn to integrate into their healing practices.

Pulsation...

Is the key element in health. When a cell is in a well-nourished, oxygenated, environmentally balanced state, an effortless pulsation occurs. When a cell becomes contracted due to metabolic, environmental, or emotional factors, pulsation is disrupted and healthy functioning is disturbed. The heart is the ultimate organ of pulsating muscle, engaging the energies and interactions of mind, body, and spirit.
