On October 5 and 6, 2011, Dr. Stephen Sinatra joined various other experts and concerned individuals at the Wireless Safety Summit in Washington, DC. Hosted by the Center for Safer Wireless, a not-for-profit electromagnetic field (EMF) advocacy group, the Wireless Safety Summit was a forum through which presenters discussed scientific research showing biological effects associated with exposure to EMF from wireless technologies. Summit leaders also focused on educating lawmakers about related health concerns and strategies for protecting the people most vulnerable to microwave radiation.
Keynote speaker Martin Blank, Ph.D., a leading EMF researcher in the U.S. kicked off the Summit with an interactive presentation called, “The Health Effects of EMFs.” Devra Davis, Ph.D., author of Disconnect--The Truth about Cell Phone Radiation, What the Industry Has Done to Hide It, and How to Protect Your Family then discussed “The Latest Developments on Cell Phones and Children." Next, Dr. Sinatra explored “good and bad vibes” through his “Microwave Radiation Effects on the Heart” presentation.
Other presenters addressed the inadequacy of wireless safety standards established by the Federal Communications Commission, issues surrounding “smart meters,” and means of communicating wireless concerns to Congress and other government leaders who could help bring about legislative change and healthier safety standards. Attendees also participated in break-out discussions centered on parental concerns, as well as policy-making, and health education and advocacy.
The next day, various Washington, DC insiders provided attendees guidance on meeting with representatives of Congress before the actual meetings were conducted that afternoon. Summit attendees later reconvened to recap the meetings and discuss the next steps.

On December 1, 2009, a panel of experts gave a 65-minute presentation at Columbia Law School entitled "Wireless Hazards." This presentation provides a great overview of the issues of potential health effects of cell phone use and the need to revise current safety standards.
