Recently it was the anniversary of the death of a close family friend of mine, Judy, due to breast cancer. Judy was an amazing woman, and she is deeply missed. In looking for ways to contribute to the search for a cure, I came across the following fund-raiser and thought local people might be interested:
Second Annual Row for the Cure event to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation- Hosted by the Norwalk River Rowing Association. Saturday, November 6th at Veteran's Park in Norwalk, CT.
Survivors and their Friends, as well as both Experienced and Novice Rowers all are encouraged to come out and show their support for this all day event. The $35 Entry Fee includes Unlimited Rowing All Day.
Last year, the Norwalk Row for the Cure raised over $6,000 for the Connecticut Chapter of the Komen Foundation. All proceeds will benefit the Komen Foundation, and all donations are tax-deductible.
"We think it's a great way to not only support a terrific cause, " Said Dr. Nathanson, "But also to show that Breast Cancer Survivors are fully capable of participating in any activity of their choosing, including rowing."
All net proceeds from the event will go to the Connecticut affiliate of the Susan G. Komen foundation and all donations are tax-deductible.
